Daniel and Gabbie have been married for a month and two days and today is the day for a really big reveal!
Their wedding day arrived with much anticipation of a dream wedding. I heard Gabbie say several times that it was everything she dreamed of and more.
The wedding came on the windiest day of the year. Even though the rain stayed away, the wind made it impossible to do photos outside. We did attempt a five-minute, outside-shoot between the wedding and reception but it was a battle of the dress and hair! Fortunately, their church is stunning, and it made the most perfect backdrop of the day, and we used every possible second in the church for their portraits.
Gabbie and I have known each other for a few years as she was a bridesmaid for two of her friends’ weddings and those ladies, Sara and Mikala, were also bridesmaids for Gabbie. I’m a little sad that the friend group is married now because they have been the best brides to work with.
One of my favorite parts of the day was at the reception. During cocktail hour the guests were gathered in a separate room, which left the reception space empty. The bride and groom came into the reception area and got to see it before anyone else. It was so sweet. They did a little dance and made a memory. In 22 years of photographing weddings this is the first time I’ve ever had a chance to photograph a bride and groom in their reception room before guests arrived. I loved it!
