Stew and Emily – Bryant, IN Wedding

Stewart and Emily are married! Theirs was my first wedding of 2020. Being that it was January in Indiana, we were all expecting and hoping for snow. The day started very rainy and windy. There was just no way to be able to do many photos out side – especially prior to the wedding. We were honestly bummed and held out hope for an opportunity for some magical snow photos. The day continued and still just rain and wind. You will see a few outdoor photos below and they were done in about 2 minutes flat after the ceremony because that is all we could handle with the weather. But that aspect didn’t dim anyone’s spirits. The bride and groom were just so happy and were truly enjoying their wedding day. Their wedding party was there to celebrate and they were terrific.

Here is a fun fact about Emily’s family; including Emily this is the 4th wedding I have photographed for their family. We have such a long history together starting back 14 years ago at the first wedding. Now all of the siblings are married! It felt like the end of an era with the Westgerdes family weddings. So I just have to say THANK YOU all for entrusting me to your wedding days. It’s been a great ride!

OK back on track (it is midnight as I’m typing this so I’m a wee bit tired!) I want to share with you the most magical moment of the day. Stewart, Emily and I were thrilled that it unfolded the way it did. If you follow me on Instagram or if you frequent this blog then you know how much I love creating photos for people at night. But there is a certain element of patience and skill that is needed to pull such photos off. Just before dinner I looked outside and I thought to myself that we just might be able to get that one magical Winter wedding photo. But it would take some walking through a messy parking lot to find the right place. I asked Emily and Stewart if they would be up for this after they were finished eating. They were! Stew and Emily followed me out to the furthest point of the parking lot where there were no cars or utility wires in the background. The wind was whipping around and was truly making it hard to see and concentrate. I got everything set up just started clicking in hopes for that magic photo. Then it started sleeting. All the while this beautiful couple was standing so still for me. But the sleet was exactly what we needed to give us that perfect photo. Sounds crazy I know, but it was just the moment we had waited for all day photographically speaking. And if you come into my studio you’ll see one of those photos in a 20×30 Acrylic already on my wall! It’s absolutely my favorite photo from their wedding! You’ll also see it below at the very end of this preview post.

Thank you Stewart and Emily. The day was so great and memorable and I hope that you always cherish the memories of your perfect, Winter Wedding. It was a JOY to be your wedding photographer.

Here are my favorites from the day.

Much Love,

Amy
