Whether big or small, weddings are special and sacred. Whether it’s a Cathedral wedding or a backyard wedding, I still get goosebumbs every single time a bride walks down the aisle. Such was the case when Amy’s two kids walked her down the aisle. It was a hot summer, outdoor wedding and I had chills. There is something about ‘that’ moment that is so special.
Amy has become a friend of mine over the past year. One year ago she reached out to me about doing family photos for her. Then, she and her sister were the first two people who showed up at my office on a very cold and snowy February morning for Cinderella Dress Day dropoff.
Earlier this summer she reached out again… this time, the big one! She was engaged to Brandon. They set their date based on when their family could all gather together and that date was Tuesday, July 16.
Surrounded by their immediate family and a few friends, Brandon and Amy committed their love and lives to each other. The ceremony was help in Brandon’s mom’s backyard on the channel at Lake Wawasee. As you can see it was a beautiful location.
One of my favorite things about their wedding day was how they incorporated their kids into the ceremony. Instead of a unity candle, or a sand ceremony, they painted! There was a blank canvas in the corner of the yard with a basket of different colors of paint close by. Starting with Brandon and Amy, then following with each of the kids, each person picked their color and then ‘threw’ the paint at the canvas. Now this art hangs in their house and is a perfect representation of their blended family. I loved this idea!
Amy and Brandon, Thank you so much for having me be part of your sweet and precious wedding day. Here are my favorites of your day.
Much Love,
Amy
